It’s fun to give

Standard

One day in November I found a phone number for January Baby a lady who invented mittens for children that will not fall off. (Remember my smitten mitten give away? This is her)  I had been scheming about my own inventions of mittens that summer while I governed  Sunshine sharing her dirt with  my baby on the deck.  But I never got around to putting my ideas into a mitten. That’s when I heard of January Baby who said she came up with a solution and I thought, “If she already did it all the power to her, much better than  me fiddling  with the bulky fabric myself, just get it from her” so I called her up and introduced myself.

Hello, I’m Karen I have been thinking about how mittens are not working. They are either to short on the wrist, not water proof, too bulky for them to grab anything  and impossible to get on a small Child’s hand. I was going to try coming up with something but if you did it, all the power to you. Please, tell me about your mittens”.  Seriously, this is what I said; I’m very professional sounding aren’t I?

She laughed and told me about her mittens and we eventually began chatting about many other things until our children woke up from their naps over an hour latter. We began e-mailing each other every week or so and have been having  fun laughing at our computers as we read each others stories. One day she e-mailed me, ” Karen check out this blog, I think you will like it I have been reading it for a while now, Chickens in the Road” I killed myself laughing because I had already found Suzanne’s blog and had just posted a link to her brilliant vanilla recipe that very same day!! We had not even met and she just knew!!

Well, last week was spring break and she came to visit me with her four children, (Inspiration for solving the mitten crisis) and look was she brought me!!!!!

Two dozen Mother-ease diapers with a few wraps!! I am thrilled to get these top quality diapers. Wow, I am thrilled, delighted and looking forward to diaper change time (well not really, but they are nice) so now that I have these diapers I can give some of mine away and I know just who.  I have a friend who is using, are you ready for this? Flat-fold-it-yourself- diapers-with-pins-and-plastic-pants!! She is staff at His Mansion Ministries key word here being, “Ministry” code word for broke. So I have been watching for diapers to give her and now I can. She will be opening her box today sometime and I will be thinking about her all day in anticipation of her discovery. I just love being involved in great surprises. And for any mother out there who is using the same method as my friend, I am so truly impressed. When I wash my dishes by hand I will stop complaining because you are an inspiration to me!!

So tell me when were you excited to give something away or be part of a surprise? I am looking forward to hearing your stories.

About karynforyou

Thank you for stopping by. I am a wife, mother to three daughters and homeschooler. It`s my intention to encourage, strengthen and laugh with friends. If you were stopping by my home you would find a sink full of dishes, books and paper strewn about but plenty of seats available for extra guests and the kettle on for tea... I may need to be reminded a few times before the tea is actually brewed. I`m blogging to help me keep focused. I will post about parenting, marriage, homeschooling, homemaking, and I`m sure there will be a few trips to the sewing room from time to time. If you have a post idea or question please feel free to contact me, I will get back to you.

  1. I’m the Ministry girl, key work, “broke” and I love this story! The best part is the box of diapers that she gave me…It was AMAZING! I too was excited to change diapers all day today. You don’t know the joy of not having to use folded diapers with straight pins! My world has opened up. Thanks Karen….You rock. I have to disagree with Heather however. While this is a good story, nothing compares to your dad holding a mirror up in the middle of Hamilton to melt snow!

    Thanks again, Your awesome!
