The Sounds of Easter

Standard

  I heard today that the last time Easter came this early in the year was 90 years ago, I don’t know if this is true or not but it’s early and it’s  cold. Therefore, the rule I was told from my southern bell students, (when I was an intern at His Mansion) that Easter was the kick off to opened toed shoes would only result in blackened dead toes after this weekend. Consequently, we are still in snow pants and the works.

This weekend we, the husband and I, have been listening to the orchestra that my two children are making with their whining, crying, and nagging. Their performance include frequent mini seizures along snow covered pathways, floors, decks, car seats and my personal favorite, mud puddles.  Their chants are one liners like “I’m hungry in my body”, or “I’m cold, I’m cold, I’m hot”, I’m not making this up and from my 18 month, “No, No, No Way” each for varying amounts of time but none less than 10 min consecutively. Sometimes they perform duets, “I’m (No) cold, I’m (No) Cold, I’m (No Way) Hot”, but they  prefer solo debuts , this way we always have something to listen too.

Every Easter I have my own song in my head and try as I might I can’t get it out. I thought my kid’s shenanigans would knock it out my head but, no. When I was about twelve or so I laid awake at night thinking about the importance of Easter and decided to put my thoughts into verse. After a few nights of brain storming I came up with this, snicker, snicker, sigh.

“Easter, Easter is not of chocolate eggs;

Easter, Easter, is not of chocolate eggs.

Easter is a time we share, things of good and bad

 Easter, Easter is when we think of Jesus an’

 When he died and rose again.”

I didn’t say it was good!!  I put it to a tune so now I get to live with this little ditty going through my brain for the rest of my life every Easter, why did I do this to myself, which was also what I was thinking in regards  to my children, ever have those day’s weeks?

About karynforyou

Thank you for stopping by. I am a wife, mother to three daughters and homeschooler. It`s my intention to encourage, strengthen and laugh with friends. If you were stopping by my home you would find a sink full of dishes, books and paper strewn about but plenty of seats available for extra guests and the kettle on for tea... I may need to be reminded a few times before the tea is actually brewed. I`m blogging to help me keep focused. I will post about parenting, marriage, homeschooling, homemaking, and I`m sure there will be a few trips to the sewing room from time to time. If you have a post idea or question please feel free to contact me, I will get back to you.
